NEET-PG 2022 Counselling: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Post Graduate) counseling will begin from September 1, official sources said on Saturday. Students who qualify the NEET-PG 2022 exam will be able to fill their choices regarding courses and colleges during the counseling process for admission to All India quota seats, state medical and dental colleges and central and deemed universities.
Officials said that PG counseling will begin simultaneously for all central universities, deemed universities and 50 per cent all India quota seats and 50 per cent state quota seats in medical and dental colleges. The Medical Consultative Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health will conduct the counseling in online mode, he told PTI.
Keeping in view that 748 seats are still lying vacant in NEET superspecialty counseling for the academic year 2021, the government has decided to conduct a special round of counseling without any cut-off percentile eligibility to prevent wastage of seats and in the larger public interest, decided to organize A one-time measure, officials said. He informed that the special mop-up round II for NEET-SS 2021 counseling will start from Tuesday.
Usually, NEET-PG is conducted in January and counseling starts in March. But due to COVID-19 and delay in last year’s admission process, this year’s exam was held on May 21 and the result was declared on June 1, a senior official said.
Along with this, inspection of medical colleges is also being done by NMC and the last date for issuance of permission letter is August 15. Hence, it has been decided to start the counseling process from 1st September so that all the new seats can be covered in the first round of counseling only,” the official said.
